Chiropractic is a form of health care concentrating on the location and removal of a severe form of spine and nerve stress, a condition that puts pressure on nerves, unbalances your body, lowers your resistance to disease, and weakens you: the vertebral subluxation complex. Chiropractic also focuses on increasing motion to a joint to allow one’s body to move properly and keep one from having injury. The science, natural philosophy and time tested art of chiropractic emphasizes the body is a self-regulating and self-healing organism. Your body functions best when balanced and in harmony. Dr. Horak’s goal is to use hands-on spinal and extremity adjusting techniques, along with advice on diet, exercise and positive lifestyle choices, to help your body become balanced and help itself.
Chiropractors spend years of highly specialized training in order to locate where misplaced spinal vertebrae (Vertebral subluxation complex) are impinging the nerves which travel down the spinal cord and out through the spinal column to the muscles, organs and glands of the body. Vertebral subluxation complexes come from stress that can occur at any age of life. It may occur in infancy from a difficult birth or from childhood falls. Violent injuries from automobile accidents, falls or sports can cause a subluxation. Even emotional tension or stress can gradually damage your spine. After Dr. Horak locates a vertebral subluxation complex, he uses highly specialized techniques to move the vertebrae and thus releasing pressure off the nerves. This is called a spinal adjustment. Along with a spinal adjustment releasing pressure off the nerves, it also improves the motion of a joint allowing one to move more freely and without pain. Increasing motion of a joint, whether in the spine or extremities, can limit the possibilities of degeneration and arthritis of a joint and can help minimize pain in a joint.
All kinds of conditions are treated with chiropractic care, such as spinal or disc problems, back pain, colds or ear infections, PMS, arthritis, insomnia, stress, vision problems, headaches, allergies, bed wetting, colic, high blood pressure, carpal tunnel, plantar fasciitis, shoulder and arm pain, hip and leg pain and etc… The goal of chiropractic treatment is not the treatment of disease but rather the enhancement of health through the reduction of spinal nerve stress. Please be mindful of the fact that chiropractic care is not like one drug used for one condition, but on the contrary, it is a complete healing art within itself, concerned with the systems of the body. Dr. Horak seeks to correct health problems within the systems of the body.
